Anime Suggestions?

Posted by HollyberryAndSplice - August 15th, 2024

I’ve been on an anime binge spree recently, and while finishing so many anime’s recently I’ve run into a wall where I’m struggling to find good new animes. If anyone has any suggestions please comment them, personally I prefer Shonen anime but I don’t mind comedies either. The most inappropriate I go is Saiki K. or Tokyo Revengers levels of inappropriate jokes but even then that’s kinda pushing it.

So far I’ve watched Demon Slayer / KNY, MHA / BNHA, JJK, Tokyo Revengers, Tokyo Ghoul, Jojo’s, Saiki K., Dr. Stone and Mashle. :3

Take this advice with a pinch of salt, but if you liked 'Dr. Stone' (the only one from your list that 'I' personally liked), I'd say... If you enjoyed the 'Competence P**n'-angle of 'Dr. Stone' I can highly recommend:
- Parallel World Pharmacy (Fantastic!)
- Handyman Saitou in Another World (Noticeably above average.)*

If you do not mind otome, then you could try:
- I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss (Above average.)

Some random guesses what you could also like if you like shonen (again, not really my genre - no guarantees here):
- My Hero Academia (Pretty much _the_ shonen anime of our time...)
- The Faraway Paladin (Very good, but might be too slow-paced for your taste.)
- Overlord ("You 'have' watched 'Overlord', right?")**
- The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? (Acceptable, but a bit silly. Not commonly known, so you would normally not see it in 'recommendation lists'.)
- The Seven Deadly Sins (I skipped that one. Twice. People who like it seem to _really_ like it, though.)
- Durarara!! (AKA DRRR!!) (It is competently animated, and it isn't 'boring', but... I'd be lying if I sad that I like it. There are 'likeable aspects' though that even I can appreciate. Features a looooot of recurring characters.)

Other than that...
- Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle (If you're having trouble sleeping.)
- Blue Period (If you're having art-trouble.)
- Archenemy and Hero (AKA Maoyu AKA Maoyū Maō Yūsha) (Because it's "the best". You should watch it. _Everyone_ should watch it. ;) )

* There's a character who will remind you a bit of 'Mashle' in 'Handyman Saitou', but he will only be featured in 2 episodes or so.

** This is a very small spoiler: The story of Overlord is not so much about "the Overlord"; it is about all the lives he touches - and how they end. We get to know them... And then they die... :) But some viewers will insist that every single media they consume has to follow the same rules: "The person who gets the most 'screen time' is 'the protagonist' who we are supposed to root for. And they cannot be overpowered or else it’s boring." I wonder if these same people are familiar with the format of 'The Cryptkeeper' and would complain that said Cryptkeeper doesn't get a better arc...

Ooooh thanks for all the suggestions! :0
